When Disaster Strikes

When Disaster Strikes

May 30, 2014

We often think of disaster preparation as making sure we have enough batteries, an emergency radio, some non parishable foods and well…you get the picture.  This type of preparation, for short term sustainability, is important and certainly not to be underestimated.  Having worked in and lived through catastrophic events I was very happy to have my supply of goods to keep us comfortable and safe.

There is however a second type of preparation.  The kind that if not well thought out before a disaster may leave you financially devastated and effect you and your family for years to come.  This type of devastation, particularly after a catastrophic loss, is far too common and could mean the difference between getting back home in a few months or a few years.  Some of the most common reasons for this are:

  • Insufficient Insurance Coverage
  • Lack of Understanding of Policy Limits
  • Absence of a Risk Management Plan/Assessment
  • Lack of Understanding & Implementation of Insured’s Responsibilities
  • Improper Storage of Important Documents

Although much of our time is spent providing support in the wake of catastrophe, we also provide assessments and create proactive risk management packages and plans for property owners and businesses to decrease the turn around time after an event.  Whether it’s flood, fire, wind, hail or anything else…we want you back home or back in business as soon as possible.
